Actress Katharine McPhee, 36, has welcomed her first child with her husband, musician David Foster, 70.

People magazine has exclusively confirmed that the couple has welcomed a baby boy into the world. Katharine’s rep shared with People, “Katharine McPhee and David Foster have welcomed a healthy baby boy. Mom, Dad, and son are all doing wonderfully.” No news yet on what they have chosen to name their first child together.

Katharine and David’s baby boy is the first child David has welcomed in over thirty years. He is the father of five adult daughters. With his second wife Rebecca Dyer, he shares three daughters, Sara, 39, Erin, 38, and Jordan, 34. He has two older daughters from previous relationships, Allison, 50, and Amy, 46.

The Smash actress met David on the set of of American Idol in 2006. David was Katharine’s mentor on the show’s fifth season. They remained friends for years and David even played the piano at Katharine’s first wedding to Nick Costas in February 2008. Katharine and Nick subsequently divorced in 2016, three years after they officially separated.

In May 2017, Katharine and David were first romantically linked after they were spotted at a dinner date at Nobu in Malibu. But it wasn’t until a year later in May of 2018 that the couple officially confirmed their relationship when they attended the Met Gala together. That July, they announced their engagement. He popped the question in Anacapri, Italy. The couple tied the knot on June 28, 2019, in front of family and friends in London at the Church of Saint Yeghiche in South Kensington.
