Today anchor Savannah Guthrie had a major announcement this morning – she and her husband, Michael Feldman, are expecting their second child!  The news spilled during the morning show’s Fish Bowl segment when Guthrie was asked, “Are you pregnant?”  Her coworkers reacted with shock, excitement, and hugs when she replied that was, in fact, expecting another baby!

The anchor and Feldman are already parents to 21-month-old daughter, Vale, who had a hilarious reaction to the baby news. Guthrie shared a video where she asked her daughter, “Vale, do you want a new baby?” “No!!!!!” the toddler responded emphatically.

Guthrie, who is due in December, announced that she will not be covering the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio, Brazil, as had been previously announced.  She made the decision to remain in New York on the recommendation of her doctor and the CDC. Brazil is the epicenter of the Zika Virus outbreak, and pregnant women infected with the virus can pass it on to their developing baby, increasing the risk of dangerous side effects such as microcephaly.

The journalist shared her emotions in a blog post for Today, writing: “It’s hard for words to contain all the excitement Mike and I have about expecting a new baby in December. When Vale was born, our happiness was complete. The thought of getting to add to our family now is beyond every hope, dream and prayer I have ever had. It is not simply double the joy — it is joy multiplied infinitely.”
