Surfer and author Bethany Hamilton has announced that she and her husband, Adam Dirks, are expecting their third child together.

Bethany shared a sweet video to announce the news. The video was a collection of shots featuring her and her two sons, Tobias, 5, and Wesley, 2. Bethany walked the beach near their home in Kauai, Hawaii with her sons with her growing baby bump in full view. A part of the video featured a piece of driftwood where the couple had written, “Tobias Wesley and ?”

Bethany has been surfing since she was young. When she was 13, she was surfing with a friend when she was attacked by a tiger shark. She lost her left arm in the attack. The now-professional surfer was determined and after one month after the attack, she began surfing again.

The surfer is also an author, having published 9 books. In 2004, she released the book Soul Surfer: A True Story of Faith, Family, and Fighting to Get Back on the Board. It was adapted into a movie in 2011 and starred AnnaSophia Robb as Bethany. The real Bethany did all of the actress’ stunt surfing in the film. Bethany’s most recent book release came in 2018 with the children’s book Unstoppable Me.

Bethany, a devout Christian, met Adam, a Christian Youth Minister, at her church. Adam popped the question in April 2013. The couple tied the knot in August of that same year on a secluded hilltop near on north shore of Kauai, close to where Hamilton grew up in the tiny town of Kilauea, with 300 guests in attendance.

Whether you agree or not, at least question what is the norm and how that will affect the life you hope to have. Faithfulness, commitment and forgiveness lead to beautiful things. You get to choose. ♥️
