Former Olympian Shawn Johnson revealed she gave birth to her first child, a baby girl, this week. While she and her husband posted sweet announcement pictures and videos, they did keep tight-lipped on the name of their daughter. But today, Shawn revealed the name she and her husband, Andrew East, have chosen.
The name the couple chose was Drew Hazel. How beautiful! What’s even more heartwarming is the reason behind why Shawn chose this name. “Named after the most incredible person I know… her daddy.” Cue the tears!
This post was also the first image Shawn shared of her new family that wasn’t black and white. Although, her husband did post a sweet video of the family in color the day the couple announced Drew’s arrival. In the name reveal post, little Drew has the sweetest smile on her face as her parents kiss her baby cheeks.
Shawn also revealed all the information about Drew’s arrival. She was born on October 29, 2019, a week before the couple shared the news on Instagram. She weighed 8lbs 8oz and was 20.5 inches long. Shawn shared her birth story yesterday. “22 hours of labor to end in a c section. I went in with such a stubborn mindset of thinking the only way I could bring our baby into the world was naturally. No meds no intervention. At 14 hours when I chose to get an epidural I felt guilty. At 22 hours when we were told I had to get a c section I felt like I had failed. But after holding our sweet girl in my arms and being told everything went well and she had made it to us safely I could have cared less.”
