Former Olympian Shawn Johnson has announced the birth of her first child! Shawn and her husband, Andrew East, welcomed their baby daughter into the world. Shawn posted a black and white photo of her and her husband gazing at their baby girl.

Andrew East posted his own announcement on his Instagram page to announce the birth of his daughter. Get the tissues ready, because this video is too precious for words. New parents Andrew and Shawn, all smiles, hold their baby daughter between them while You Are the Best Thing by Ray LaMontagne plays in the background.

Shawn has been very open about her journey to motherhood. Two years ago, she suffered a miscarriage. Shawn opened up about what she felt surrounding the loss. On a recent podcast episode of Hot Marriage. Cool Parents. with Jamie Otis and Doug Hehner, Shawn shared, “I felt so sad and guilty that I had done something wrong to lose this child.” She went on to say, “That was always my fear — that I had put my body through so much and done so many extreme diets and delayed puberty and all of these things, that it would cause me to have trouble getting pregnant. I had had testing done and blood work done and [doctors] said everything was good, which was a good reassurance. But again, at that time of miscarriage, I couldn’t help but think I did enough damage to my body at a young age that it was almost, like, payback.”

Having Shawn open up about her experience with miscarriage resonates with so many people who have suffered the same loss. Now, Shawn has welcomed her rainbow baby. If her pregnancy has been any indication of what motherhood will be like for her, she will be just as elated to be a girl mom.
