It was only a matter of time after news broke that the Duchess of Cambridge was in labor… Kensington Palace has confirmed that Kate Middleton and Prince William welcomed their third child!

Kensington Palace tweeted the first update this morning, writing: “Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge was admitted to St. Mary’s Hospital, Paddington, London earlier this morning in the early stages of labour. The Duchess travelled by car from Kensington Palace to the Lindo Wing at St. Mary’s Hospital with The Duke of Cambridge.”

Nothing like having all eyes on you when you’re in labor.

Finally, the big news was announced on Twitter by Kensington Palace: “Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge was safely delivered of a son at 1101hrs. The baby weighs 8lbs 7oz. The Duke of Cambridge was present for the birth. Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well.”

Kate and Prince William’s third child joins 4-year-old Prince George and 2-year-old Princess Charlotte.

It was reported over the weekend that Kate’s sister, Pippa Middleton, and her husband, James Matthews, are currently expecting their first child.
