Iggy shared the news on her Instagram Stories writing, “I kept waiting for the right time to say something but it feels like the more time passes the more I realize I’m always going to feel anxious to share news that giant with the world. I want to keep his life private but wanted to make it clear he is not a secret & I love him beyond words.” At the time, she didn’t reveal a name or any other details surrounding her son or her pregnancy.
Today, Iggy shared a video to her Instagram feed that revealed the name of her son. The video features sound paired with a simple black image that bore the words: Amethyst and Onyx. The sound on the video was Iggy, whose given name is Amethyst Amelia Kelly, talking with her son, who was babbling away on the video. The video revealed that her son’s name is Onyx!
While the name is certainly unique, it has great meaning for Iggy that signifies a bond between her and her son. Onyx is the word for black gemstone. Amethyst, Iggy’s given name, is the word for purple quartz gemstone. What a beautiful choice!
Iggy shares her first son with fellow rapper Playboi Carti, whose given name is Jordan Terrell Carter. Onyx is also Playboy Carti’s first child. The couple began dating in 2018 while Playboi Carti was on tour. They moved in together after just three months of dating.
