Singer-songwriter Halsey has announced some exciting news. She’s going to become a mom!

Halsey, born Ashley Nicolette Frangipane, posted a series of photos to her Instagram page that featured the singer’s growing baby bump. She captioned the photo “surprise!” followed by three emojis: a baby bottle, a rainbow, and a cherub.

The “Without Me” singer didn’t share any further details about her pregnancy but did tag screenwriter Alev Aydin on her photo. Alev appeared to confirm the news after sharing Halsey’s post to his Instagram stories and added two red heart emojis. He also commented on her post saying, “Heart so full, I love you, sweetness.” Halsey replied to his comment sharing, “I love you!!!!! And I love this mini human already!” Previously, Halsey had been romantically linked to actor Evan Peters and fellow singer-songwriter Yungblud.

Sadly, Halsey has suffered a miscarriage in the past. In February of 2020, the songwriter shared with The Guardian that becoming a mom was “looking like something that’s gonna happen for me. That’s a miracle.” She went on to share that the experience was the “most inadequate I’ve ever felt. Here I am achieving this out-of-control life, and I can’t do the one thing I’m biologically put on this earth to do. Then I have to go onstage and be this sex symbol of femininity and empowerment? It is demoralizing.”

Halsey used this experience as inspiration in her writing. She wrote about her struggles with her reproductive health in her song “More.” In her Manic album notes for Apple Music, Halsey opened up about the meaning of the song. “I’ve been really open about my struggles with reproductive health, about wanting to freeze my eggs and having endometriosis, and things like that. For a long time, I didn’t think that having a family was something I was going to be able to do, and it’s very, very important to me. Then one day my OB-GYN tells me it’s looking like I maybe can, and I was so moved. It felt like this ascension into a different kind of womanhood. All of a sudden, everything is different. I’m not going to go tour myself to death because I have nothing else to do and I’m overcompensating for not being able to have this other thing that I really want. Now, I have a choice. I’ve never had a choice before.”

Congratulations to Halsey! We’re thrilled she is going to be able to experience motherhood.
