Congratulations to Derek and Hannah Jeter! The couple just welcomed their first child, a baby girl!
They chose a beautiful name for their new addition: Bella Raine Jeter. Bella is Italian, meaning, “Beautiful, God is My Oath.”
The Players’ Tribune, founded by Derek, posted the exciting baby news on Twitter, writing: “Congratulations Derek and @hannahbjeter on the birth of your baby girl, Bella Raine Jeter, born Thursday, Aug. 17.”
The New York Yankees also tweeted their congrats, writing: “Congrats to Derek & Hannah Jeter on the birth of their daughter, Bella Raine Jeter. We can’t wait to meet her!”
Derek and Hannah were rumored to have started dating in 2012, but didn’t make it red carpet official until they attended the Met Gala together in 2015. In November 2015, they announced their engagement, and they were married in July 2016.
Hannah, a Sports Illustrated model, announced her pregnancy in an essay in The Players’ Tribune, where she explained, “We want our kids’ lives to be as ‘normal’ as possible. They’re going to be born into such an extraordinary situation. They’re going to have to be some strong little people.”
She added: “We don’t want them to be defined by their dad’s name — for them, we want him to just be ‘Dad.’ That will be the piece of him they’ll have that the rest of the world doesn’t. It will be special, and it will be theirs.”
