Kris Allen and his wife Katy have welcomed their second child – a daughter named Rose Elizabeth Allen.

The winner of American Idol Season 8 shared the news with fans on Instagram. Next to a photo of the newborn he wrote, “Welcome to the world, Rosie. Oh man…I am done. She’s already got me figured out I think.  Excuse me while I go learn how to braid hair on YouTube for the next 13 years…cuz that’s how long it’s gonna take me.”

The couple, who were high school sweethearts before they married in 2008, did not find out the gender of their baby until she was born.  Allen told People, “We found out with our son, but we just feel like there’s not enough mystery in the world today.  Now it’s kind of like: Let’s have fun with it! We’re not putting a ton of pressure on it.”

Rosie was born in Nashville, Tennessee, weighing 7 lbs., 10 oz., and measuring 19″ long.  She is the second child for the couple who have a son named Oliver Neil, 2 1/2.  While the parents admitted to some nerves for how Oliver would respond to a baby, everything seems to be going well.  The proud dad has already shared a photo of Oliver sweetly cradling his baby sister on Instagram with the caption, “My little sidekick. He’s got her back for sure.”
