“Ironic” singer Alanis Morissette has announced the birth of her son! Alanis took to Instagram yesterday to share an adorable photo of her son, born on August 8th. She gave him the sweetest name.
Welcome to the world Winter Mercy! Winter is the third child Alanis has welcomed with rapper husband Mario “Souleye” Treadway. They had their first son, Ever Imre, in 2010 and their daughter, Onyx Solace in 2016. The couple have been married since May 2010. They were wed in a private ceremony at their Los Angeles home.
Souleye shared the same photo on his Instagram page and paid special tribute to his wife in the caption. He wrote, “You will forever be my heroine. thank you for your warrior strength and ability to so deeply love.” It’s wonderful to see the two so in love after all this time!
The singer-songwriter gave birth to her son at home, just as she has done for her two other children. In 2013, she opened up about her birthing experience with her first child, Ever. “The experience was beyond pain,” she said. “It was a transcendental experience. I just went to this whole other world. I basically had to be the little soldier that I am and really focus on this new beautiful creature coming out of me.”
While she admitted it was not the easiest experience, she said she had no regrets. She went on to give birth in her home two more times with the assistance of a doula and a midwife, which is a truly beautiful thing. Her husband has been by her side through each of them, offering Alanis the support and guidance she needed.
