Okay, well this is purely from a fictional standpoint, but what I was wondering is how names would evolve to a wider scope if the initial pool of names that were drawn from where those of a Celtic nature.
(ie. Welsh, Irish, Cornish, Manx, Scottish)

Would Latinate and other similar names appear or not?
(ie. Augustus, Leopold etc)

What's the context?

If I were writing a story about a particular time and place, I'd look at what names were popular around them, or as close as possible. I assume that for some time periods there would be different influences on what people name their kids.

If it is a more fantasy/parallel universe type setting, I'd probably stick with Celtic/Celtic inspired names, and only bring in Latin/Latin inspired names if I wanted to signify that the character was connected to an outside culture, unless it were a Celtic culture influenced by a Roman one

Sorry! The story is fantasy. I have drawn on the Celtic culture alot when it comes to tools and way of life etc.

So it made sense to stick to this also when it came to naming patterns. Later on, in the timeline, I have used more anglicised versions of Celtic names, but I'm a little lost as to how those may have evolved.

my guess on the evolution of names would have mostly to do with interaction of peoples from different ethnic and cultural backgrounds thru trade of goods or war, where people were introduced to outsiders, and brought back more than trade goods, maybe wives, with names that they had in their own backgrounds, and then put to use on their offspring, giving a new genre of names too the next generation. With each mixing of cultures, tribes, and peoples there would be a larger pool of names to choose from.
