Does anyone know anything about Winslet as a last name? I've tried to find info on it, but I can't find anything (besides it being Kate's ln haha). Did Kate Winslet make it up? TIA :)

Kate's father's ln is Winslet, and both of her sisters (also actresses) use it, so Kate probably didn't make it up herself.

This is a total guess, but I'm thinking it might be a variant of Winslow, which means something like "from the friend's hill." Win- or -win in an English name often means "friend" or "friendly."

I haven't been able to find anything on Winslet, but Winslett does show up in old records, so it wasn't made up by Kate's family.
