If things go as normal, the top 1000 lists of names for babies born in the USA in 2007 should be put up by the Social Security administration in about two weeks? Any predictions for new names for the list, or dramatic rises among those already there? If the popularity list for this site is predictive, we should see Aaralyn and Abrianna enter the list (I think they were the two names on this site's top 1000 that weren't on the 2006 SSA list.) I still am seeing so much attention given to Miley that I think it's very likely that name will also be a new denizen of the SSA list.
Boys' names are even harder to predict. MTV's The Real World has inspired a lot of young parents in the past, and last fall I had a young woman in one of my introductory psychology classes say she was planning on naming a future son Cohutta after one of the male "stars" of that show. But Cohutta may be a bit too different to have appealed to enough parents for it to really have made the top 1000. Then again, you only need about 185 boys born nationwide to make the top 1000. So what do you all think? :)

Awww....I've been thinking about this.
I think August, River, and Elliot will rise up a little bit.
I think Finn will rise up by a lot.
I think Harper and Piper for a girl will be on the rise too.
I think Anthony may drop a notch or two.
I think Alyssa, Alexis, and Tyler will continue to drop.
I think Jack may jump up a few notches.
I think Rowan will rise a little.
I'm wondering if Thea, Gus, Olive, or Isla will make the list in the next few years.
And I wonder if trends popular in the Hispanic community will add new names to the list this year.

I predict that Lucy will make a significant jump toward the top of the list. I've seen it appearing in local birth announcements much more frequently over the past several months.
I will also predict that Emily will be ousted at the #1 spot this year but Jacob will remain #1.

I think Miley will enter the charts.
Finn, Ezra, River, Jack/Jackson will go up in popularity for boys.
Lucy, Riley (and all other spellings), Jordan & Violet will increase in popularity for girls.

I agree that Lucy will have a big jump.

I'd predict a rise for Shiloh and Maddox-- and a jump for Violet and Rowan.
Maybe falls for Alyssa and Olivia?

Based on what's popular here (Australia) but not over there yet, I think Lucy, Sophie, Alice, Claudia and Ruby will all jump. Not sure for boys, possibly Oliver, Henry and Harry/Harrison.
I don't know that much about current US pop culture, but Miley seems a certainty I guess.

I think that Lucy, Charlotte, Phoebe & Ruby will rise for the girls and Jack, Max, Finn & Leo will rise for the boys. :)

They used to come out in March, why so late the past couple of years?
Usually the SSA follows our POP LISTS by 2-3 years, with the exception of Hispanic names. However with the proliferation, availability and affordability of DSL and computers now, we now have a more diverse user-base. So we should be seeing that reflected in our pop lists soon.

I wonder if Carys will be on the list this year? I am sure hearing it a lot more.
