There is a local news man here whose name is Huel prn. Hyool... Does anyone have any information about this name?

I believe he spells it Huell. I don't know for sure, but I've always assumed that it's a surname from his family background that was given to him as a first name.

Nope, this guy definitely spells it Huel... Could be a surname, I hadn't thought of that!

Just realized I'm thinking of a different broadcaster whose name is Huell. This one's based in LA. Interesting that there are two in the same profession with such similar names when both spellings seem so rare.

That really is interesting Daphne! It's not at all a common name, though if Mina is right about the meaning it seems appropriate for a person in that profession!

I've found several different origins/meanings for huel as a word...
English = a mine; a variant of wheal
Cornish = a works, a mine
Breton = high; noble, proud
Nahuatl = well

But yeah, I'd go with Mina and say as a name it's probably a form of Hewell.

Forgot to add, the Breton Huel is also a surname, so that's a possibility.
