You're name is Superman? No, it's 4Real.

A New Zealand couple is looking to call their newborn son Superman -- but only because their chosen name of 4Real has been rejected by the government registry.

Pat and Sheena Wheaton say they will get around the decision by the Registrar of Births, Deaths and Marriages by officially naming their son Superman but referring to him as 4Real, the New Zealand Herald newspaper has reported.

The Wheatons decided on the name after seeing the baby for the first time in an ultrasound scan and realizing their baby was "for real."[/b]

I really dislike that, and I think the parents are setting their son up for a lot of teasing. Why can't they just spell it For real for something?

I think they're just making an angry point.

As long as their child grows up loved I don't think it's that awful, at least they have a story to go with it.

I don't like either name. I agree with whoever said that the parents are just setting the kid up for a lot of teasing. Why would they want that? Or do they not realize it/not care?

I agree, it seems pretty selfish on the part of the parents. I'd feel differently if the name had some actually meaning to them, but it sounds pretty childish.

Yeah read that. Bizzare. Wonder what the kid will think when he's older.

Okay, I'm sorry, but how utterly ridiculous. All they're trying to do is make an angy point at their son's expense. Someone needs to teach them to grow up.

Well, there's one kid who will be changing his name. Let's just hope the parents don't make him wait until he's 18.
