What's a "Message CAF"?
I've seen these on the Name Games boards, but there wasn't an explanation.

I'm pretty sure it's when the initials for the family members spell a word or phrase.

Also the one like this:
DH:
DW:
questions w/ answers where the number and gender of your children depend on the answers THEN. . .
If you have a 26 yr old daugher she had been divorced twice and is single mom to 2 daughters
If you have a 26 yr old son he is married with one son
If you have 26 yr old twins, one is married with 2 children (you pick) and the other is living with their same-sex partner with one child (you pick) adopted from Latvia.
WHAT"S THAT ONE CALLED?

I think people sometimes call it a generations CAF, or extended family CAF.

That's a NYK (Name Your Kids).
Sometimes also called a FTD (Follow the Directions).
People also use FTD to mean something like this:
DW: Aine, Annie, Anna or Anouk
If Aine, then mn is your mom's name
If Annie, then mn is your favorite name
If Anna, then mn is German
If Anouk, then mn has four syllables...
etc...
BTW, I like your examples above. ;)

I just wanted to add a note -- PLEASE LABEL YOUR CAFS!!!!! Some people (like me :winky: ) only like playing certain kinds, so it really saves time if the type of CAF is in the title of the thread.
Thanks! :bighug:

What's IYB?[/b]
IYB stands for In Your [Smiley] Box. It is when you click "post reply" and you take the smilies that are in the smily box and name them.
Example:
:police: Ryan George
:munchies: Nickolas James
:paci: Amber Lauren

UF= Ultimate Family
Someone will post a CAF with Choices. Then, with everyone's responses, they'll do a this or that game and, essentially, the board chooses their favorite names to create an ultimate family. It's like the YCF game on the Name Games board

YCF is the exact same thing as UF. I'm pretty sure it stands for You Choose Family, or something like that. A CAF is posted and people fill it out. Then, everyone votes for their favorite names and a family is created from that

What about YPF? Is that Your Perfect Family or something? The ones I've looked at look just like initial CAFS

I think it's you pick the family. Same as YCF.

quick question about YPFs (thought maybe it could go here?) anyway, can we still vote on the families even if we didn't contribute to them? I have been doing this, but didn't know if it was *allowed*....sorry!

a questions about DF's...
are you supposed to use the same one for each new DF post you participate in or is it supposed to be the same DF each time you participate in a new DF, you just update or add to it? does that make sense?
Sorry, I'm kinda new to the DF games, and every time I've created a different family...

In most cases, you're free to create a new family. Occasionally someone will do an ongoing game, but that should be specified in the title.
