Astrid is probably the longest standing name on my list (loved it since pippi ) but it hasn't been a top favourite for a long while. Recently, though, when I was revamping my long list, I 'rediscovered' it and it's been on my mind ever since.
I'm wondering what everyone thinks of it? Yes? No? Too much teasing potential?
How about as a sister to Felix and Louisa?

Thanks!

Love it. I think its whimsical and beautiful, but still a solid name. Gorgeous alongside Felix and Louisa.

I love Astrid! However SO shares the same last name as Astrid Lindgren so... that's out. Haha.

But either way I love love love Astrid! I knew one growing up in Elementary school, great association too. I think Felix, Louisa and Astrid make a cute sibset.

I love love love it (and because of Pippi too!) and I think it sounds fantastic with Louisa and Felix. Polly Viola Astrid is one of my top combos :)

I think Astrid is very pretty and I really don't see any teasing potential (any more than any other name, that is...kids can find anything to tease about if they wanted to). As a sister to Felix and Louisa, I think it works absolutely wonderful!

It's a name I really like but I'm not sure if I can picture on my child. I like it on the girl in Fringe.

I like Astrid, it's refreshing in the face of all the little Anna's and Amelia's.

Felix, Louisa, and Astrid is a great combo :lvsigh:

I love Astrid, but I do think of that episode of The Office...it has muddied the name for me, to be honest.

I absolutely love it, and if Felix had been a girl, it was our #1 choice until a friend of mine said, "it sounds like a@$ turd". I couldn't believe it. I would have NEVER made that connection. She convinced me that it was setting a kid up for a lifetime of teasing, but I don't know...

I'm wondering what everyone thinks of it? Yes? No? Too much teasing potential?
I adore it. I'm not sure about the teasing potential, but will be watching this thread closely.

How about as a sister to Felix and Louisa?
I think that it goes PERFECTLY with Felix and Louisa. Love it.

It seems to be fairly board popular, but to be honest, it's one of my least favorite names ever. I just find the sound of it extremely unpleasant/unattractive. I do not understand the appeal of this name at all!

It has really grown on me. And maybe for a really odd reason. But there's this woman who sells knitting supplies and her name is Astrid. lol What can I say? She's really nice and has good prices and service.

Love Astrid. Yes, I suppose there is some teasing potential there due to the first syllable's similarity to a certain three-letter word, but all names have some teasing potential. That really doesn't bother me at all. I think it sounds great with Felix and Louisa (one of my old favorite Louisa combos was Louisa Astrid).

Not a huge fan of Astrid, but agree that it's lovely with Felix and Louisa, both of which I LOVE!

Astrid with felix & Louisa is, frankly, wonderful :) I really like the look of the name and the sound...but the starting "*****" would make me hesitate.

Astrid is one of my favourite names too, it's probably 2nd or 3rd on my list, generally. If we had a girl and I couldn't talk James into Ingrid, she would probably be Astrid.
Over here, there isn't the same potential for teasing that you're thinking of - in our accent, the start of Astrid sounds different to that other 3-letter word.
I think it's a lovely name, uncommon but well-enough known, timeless but modern as well.
James likes it because of the Cold Chisel song ("Astrid") as well. Youtube it.

Felix, Louisa and Astrid is great. Astrid Louisa is one of my fave combos so they must go well together!

I really really like Astrid. I worry about the teasing potential, but I don't think it's too bad to keep from using it if you love it. I think it's perfect with Felix and Louisa (both of which I love).

Astrid is also a favorite of mine. (If I ever had more than one daughter, one of them would be Astrid Lenore.)

I think it's great with Felix (another personal favorite) and Louisa.

I don't worry too much about the AS- beginning, probably because it sounds different in my accent. But I don't know, there are only so many sounds in any given language, so of course words will share those sounds with others, both pleasant and unpleasant ones. It's not something I pay much attention to, unless the whole word looks or sounds exactly the same as another.

By the way, I'm a Pippi fan, too! :)

I think it's a great name, and it's on my list, but the teasing potential puts me off using it for a child.
