I like Egan but it does not get a great response when I ask about in here or irl!
WDYT ?
So what's the low down? What makes you dislike it? Sound, association etc? Do you think meeting a cute little boy with it wld make you change your opinion? Here are two pretty cute little guys from the faces of on our own babynames.com.. (http://www.babynames.com/Names/namepix.php?id=1151).
Please be as honest as you want. I just really want to know what turns people off to it.

I don't dislike it greatly, it's just nmsaa. I don't like how it looks written, but that's not the worst thing in the world.

I have a really bad association with the name. It's nrms. Also I'm not fond of the sound or the way it looks, outside of the association.

Its not the worst. I knew people with that ln so it is a ln to me (which doesn't really mean anything anymore). And I tend not to like the hard 'g' sound (i'm not a big fan of velarized consonants in general lol).

I really like it! No negativity here!

I like it too. My oldest sister went on a trip to Great Britain when she was in high school and one of the guys that was on that trip was named Egan. I've really liked the name since then.

I personally like to give boy's strong names, and that has a soft feel to me. Well that and I just don't like saying it. The boys with that name are super cuties though!

I personally don't like it because of a restaurant in the town I was born in called Egan's. I grew up eating there (and still do occasionally) and can only think of the food I eat there when I hear the name.

Sounds like a last name kinda!!! It's alright tho!

I go back and forth. I think it's really cool, but there's a part of me that doesn't like some sound in there, but I can't place it. I think it's the EE sound... like Agan would sound better to me, but Egan looks better. So... I'd love it if it was said like Eamon. Or is it said like that? I've been saying it like Ethan with a G.

reminds me of the Ghost Busters.

I don't like how it looks or sound and I don't know... I just get a vibe off of it. Not that I think it's awful or anything, just not at all fond of it.

I don't really care for the sound. Deegan has been growing on me though. And Egan reminds me of Ghostbusters.

Ditto.
I do like Keegan though.

Ditto. I don't think there's anything wrong with the name, I just don't really care for it.

I like the sound, the spelling just looks off. I like Eagon or Eagen more I think.

It seems incomplete to me. There's nothing 'wrong' with it, but i just prefer other names.

I don't care for the sound or look, and it makes me think of dorky Egon from the Ghostbusters.

I am going to ditto that it seems incomplete.....it just looks like its missing something...or like the 1st letter was left off....
I like names like Regan/Reagan, Teagen, Keegan.....with that same sound....
I like the sound of it I guess...just not the look of it....

I don't like it. I would use Ewan, Evan, Teagan, etc. before I would use Egan.
I wouldn't use it myself, but I think it's fine. No strong positive or negative vibe for me. It does get points for being less common, though.

I don't think it's that bad I kind of like it.

It's not my style mostly because of the surname-factor (which I tend to find unappealing) but I like it for you! Egan was the name of someone important (I'm not sure who :uhoh:) in Anchorage's history and we have a few buildings and what not named after him or her. I'm surprised it's not more popular here.

It doesn't really sound all that pleasant to my ear. I also think it looks incomplete. I'm sure it could grow on me. This is the first time I've seen it on here.

I think it's pretty cool, but ditto on the Ghostbusters/mad scientist vibe. It kind of has the same feel as Igor, which is also a nice name but will forever be dr. Frankenstein's creepy sidekick.

That's kinda my issue, too. Though sometimes the strong E next to the hard G makes me think of Igor.

I like Egan a lot actually. I think it fits great with your other kids' names and it's got a familiar sound but is also different all the same. I amnot much help on why it turns people off :) Egan is a great name for you

:ditto: I love your sibset, but I just don't think this compliments it. If you want a long e name why not Easton? It's much more masculine and fits with Kohl, Owen, Parker, & Luke perfectly!

Hmmm. I don't like the way it sounds or looks. It sounds like it's missing a beginning sound.."K" eegan, or "T'eegan.

I don't dislike it, either. But something about it just seems "off" to me...maybe the spelling or maybe that it reminds me of someone saying "Egad!"? I think I prefer the spelling Eagan or Eagen... When I hear the name/say it out loud, I think it could definitely grow on me. For me, it's mostly the way it looks when written...

Not a thing wrong with it. I really like it, in fact! It would be cute in your sibset, although maybe a teensy bit close to Owen.

Well, I can sort of see how the sound might be appealing to some. In theory, perhaps. But in reality, it's a contrived spelling, looks like the T got left off, or it's really "th" instead of "g" or something. IDK, I don't feel too strongly about it one way or the other, but I can see the downfalls.

Egan George was my favorite name for a short while around 2006. My name taste changed a lot since then, but I still think its great. Fits in with current trends while still being unique. I agree that it sort of looks "off" but not terribly so IMO. I think it'd be great for you.

I have a cousin named Egan. He's 5 months old. I didn't like it at first, but it's grown on me. The family still isn't sure about it, but they are very used to classic names.
