What are your thoughts on Saoirse for a girl? (seer-shuh)
Would the spelling stop you from using it if you loved it?
Thank you very much! :hface:

Maybe I love Thijs but now that using it could be a reality I have become very chicken and tentative. I like Saoirse a lot but it wld in the end probably trouble me to use it irl. If there was no other name I loved as much I wld consider it though! ;)

I love the sound of the name, but the spelling does it in for me. I would probably "Americanize" a spelling for it... but it's hard to find one that looks right... Seersha looks off to me.

I LOVE Saoirse. It would probably be my favorite name, but I do have one little problem with it. It's not the spelling/pronunciation, it's the fact that I can't come up with another Gaelic/Celtic/Irish girls name that I love, and it would bother me to have like Saoirse and Coraline, kwim?
But, I do adore it. I think it's just beautiful.

I love Saoirse, but I would feel strange using it because I'm not Irish  The spelling puts me off a little too, but not nearly as much as that does. If it were just a spelling issue, I wouldn't hesitate to use it!

I really like it, especially the sound of it.
I probably would be hesitant to use it as a first name, though, because of the spelling/pronunciation issues.

It's a neat name, I like the sound but I have a hard time remembering how to pronounce it since I haven't seen it much. Pronunciation/spellings issues may keep me from using it personally.

I really love it, but I don't think I would ever use it irl because of the spelling and pronunciation issues :(.

I LOVE Saoirse! I think that Gaelic names are worth the inevitable mispronunciation and misspelling.
To Grace, Niamh, Roisin, or Aoife would make a great sister to Saoirse.

I love it!
I also love Sorcha (Soar-uh-kuh), Eilidh (Aye-lee), and Aoife (E-fuh).

I absolutely love it. Meet a couple of Saoirses while living in Ireland :)

I like it, but I don't think anyone would ever pronounce it right. That would bug me.

The spelling would stop me from using it personally, but I love the name. I have trouble pronouncing Irish names in general though!!

I've always been a big fan of legit spellings, so if you loved this name, even though it's a different spelling -- it's legit, KWIM? And people would get the hang of it after awhile.. & it'd make her/her name memorable IMO haha.

It sounds pretty, but I find it 'too much' unless the baby is born in Ireland, or elsewhere to Irish parents. I mean, I've taken the trouble to learn a bit of Irish and I have a slight understanding of the pronunciation system, plus I'm generally good at spelling and interested in names, but even I struggle to remember how to spell it!
