WDYT of the name Bronte for a little :female:? Do you prefer the sp Bronte or Brontė? If you prefer the latter, do you think the spelling would be troublesome since the ė isn't really that common?
When I hear it I think of the Bronte sisters right away, but to me that's not a negative association. Wuthering Heights is actually one of my favorite books :)
TIA!

I don't think it has the most pleasant sound to it, but the association with the Bronte sisters helps it. (Despite the fact that Wuthering Heights is one of my least favorite books. ;) )
I prefer Bronte to Brontė.

It's okay, though I don't find it has a pretty feminine sound to it. I prefer Brontė.

I am surprised but I actually like it. Surprised because it isn't really feminine at all. But there is something about it. I prefer it spelled with the umlaut but yeah, I foresee problems...I couldn't even type it lol.

Love it! I prefer Bronte, but if you an find someone who grew up with an accent in his/her name, I would ask their opinion on how easy/hard that might have been. I think it you wanted the accent, you may have to sit down and show a little one how to find the accent on the computer.

I kind of like it, and I think it might be the only surname as a first name that I like on a girl. I would spell it Brontė, definitely.

I love it, and have a great place-name association to it. I will say that in real life, most people say, "Bronnie" and the "t" doesn't really translate to the North American accent. I prefer it without the umlaut, but either way its fine. If you use the umlaut, I would just use it as a formality, not necessarily something for everyday use.

I like Brontė. Unfortunately I'd never use it because my name is Bronwen (Bron/Bronnie) and it would never work out!

I really like it, for the literary association and knowing the cutest little girl called Bronte.
Eithewr way is fine, but yes the accent might be a bit awkward.

I love it. I am a huge fan of Charlotte Brontė, and I would definitely consider using it in some way, one day. I like it spelt both ways, but I feel that the 'ė' has the potential to be a problem and could often be dropped off/misspelt by people.

I enjoyed Wuthering Heights, but Bronte is not the least bit feminine.

Brontė.
I would use an ultra-femme middle name.

I rather like it, which is weird because I seem to passionately dislike all Br- names, both male and female! I always wanted a name with an accent, so I would spell it Brontė. People can always miss the dots off if their computer can't cope with it, etc. I agree with Melanie that a feminine middle name would be a good idea.
