It makes me think of the old African American gospel singer that was famous. Maybe as a mn. I prefer Mahalia, as in "Jackson" ;).

I prefer Leonie, inly because there are many other -ine names that I prefer over Leontine (Clementine, Valentine, Emmeline).

I like it and it's very pretty, but when I say it I just want to say leonine. If one can live with the meaning, I would Leonine would be a good compromise between Leontine and the more pronounceable Leonie/Leona.

I usually hate to put names into 'middle name only' categories, because I feel like its so limiting, but this is one that I think is awesome as a middle name, but yet, I really dislike it as a first name.

I love it. It was my grandmothers name and has a special story behind it for our family. She prn it Leon-tyne as opposed to Leon-teen. I would use it as a middle name if I ever had a daughter.

Pretty but prefer Leonie. Like the -tyne pronunciation a bit more than the -teen pronunciation.
