I know of four babies born in the last 6 months named Justin. To me it's a dated name... I went to HS with a lot of Justin's, and have a 20-year-old cousin named Justin. I haven't heard the name on a new baby in quite a while, til recently.

Think it's making a comeback? Or has it always been around and I'm not good at paying attention? lol.

What do you think of the name? It's nmsaa, I think mainly because of the dated factor, though I can see the appeal, since I think it's a nice strong name that can fit a baby or an adult.

NMS, and I think it's really dated.

I have an 18 y/o brother named Justin. I agree with you - I think the name is definitely dated.

Yeah, I think it's dated, at least in white culture. But around here, I know a lot of Hispanics who tend to use names I think of as dated--Stephanie is pretty popular, for example. So maybe it's a cultural thing? Or maybe their parents are just behind the times. :)

I like Justus, though.

My 25 year old brother's name is Justin. It's nms and I find it to be dated to the late 80's.

I know many Justins, all around my age. The youngest Justins I know are 8 and 9. It's always been a name I liked, but yes, I do find it dated.

One of Jack's friend's is Justin, he's 4. I hear it a lot. It seems kind of like Ryan to me, a new classic of sorts. Not completely dated, but not not dated either, lol.

I don't think it's so dated that it's unusable, but it's sorta like Jennifer to me. It's tied to a certain time period, and that's really all I think of when I hear it. That said, I used to love the name, though it's not on my lists anymore.

It's really nms. I find it dated and back when it was really popular I would have found it too "trendy".

I can see that - not Hispanics and not in the US, but if you asked people around here for what they think were popular names in the US, they'd say Jennifer, Sarah, Mel, Courtney, Ashley, Jason, Justin, Chris, Mike: the names we usually see on TV shows and movies, which usually have people in their 20s, who would be named that. So those would be the names that seem cool and have the Hollywood vibe. It's hard to find a romantic comedy character named Theodore or Matilda, kwim?

I do find it a little bit dated, but I like it anyway. I also like Jeremy, which I consider to be a little bit dated as well.

It's my 21 year old cousins name, and while I like it for him, I do find it dated.

Exactly! :) And there are also some 'dated' names I see being used that are the English equivalent to Hispanic names--for example, I know a few Valerie's, which I consider dated, whose parents call them Valeria. But overall, I think that names that sound dated because they've been used for awhile in white culture probably sound fresher outside of white culture.

And it's funny too, because there are a lot of Spanish names that I love--like Pilar, for example--and when I mention it to my Hispanic friends they say it sounds really dated. The same thing happens with some Arabic names I like. I'll mention a name to an Arabic friend, who will say, "Oh, that's a really old name--we don't use that anymore." And not "old" as in "funky/old-fashioned" like Matilda or Beatrice, "old" as in "it's never comin' back" like hmmm, Gertrude.

I like Justin. Yeah, it may be dated, but we're in the day and age where what's old is new again.

I find it dated as well, but I've been seeing it around lately too (and a few little Jason's which I think of as just as dated). Maybe they are becoming modern-classics.

The name is nmsaa but I love the girly version--Justine--which I thinnk has a totally different 'vibe'.

A friend of mine has a son named Justin. He's 3 1/2. When she told us his name when he was born, both DH and I thought that it sounded a bit dated, but I think it's still usable.

According to the SSA website Justin was #19 in 2000 but fell to #45 by 2006 where it's holding steady.

Justin is quite popular here... I have a Justin in my class.
Most Justins I know are trouble makers, though ;)
It's nmsaa.

Justin is completely dated to me. I know a few kids named this, but not really. I guess to me its kind of like Jessica. Pretty dated, but I can see the appeal.
