This is a name on DH's family tree. Does anyone have any insight on it? I've never heard it before.

This is an old Roman Catholic saint's name, originally the name of a bishop who was martyred in 166 AD:

If I am interpreting my French name dictionary correctly, the name Polycarp was derived from Greek words meaning "much fruit." :)

I work with an older Mexican-born man named Policarpio, and the name has intrigued me since we met. Some of our coworkers call him Polly/Paulie, but I love to say Policarpio [po-lee-CAR-pee-o]. :toothy:

So I guess my initial guess of "many fish" would be incorrect ;)

Policarpio is awesome!

I think there's a New Testament "character" named Polycarp. I remember it coming up at Bible study. My friend used to talking about Polycarp Ellis.
