Jillian Michaels Welcomes a Daughter and a Son!

Jillian Michaels

The stork has been making a few visits to Jillian Michaels‘ house! The former Biggest Loser trainer and her partner, Heidi Rhoades, expanded their family by two this month. Michaels has been open about her journey through the adoption process, and earlier this month, she finally got to bring home her 2-year-old daughter Lukensia, who Michaels adopted from Haiti. As if that wasn’t enough baby bliss, Rhoades gave birth to the couple’s son, Phoenix, on May 3rd. “We’re swimming in babies over here,” Michaels told People in an interview. “I want to be really present and enjoy all the nuances of their growth and development.”

Jillian Michaels knows well that the path to the thing you want is often long and full of hard work and disappointment. As one of the trainers on The Biggest Losers, she’s added her share of hard work to contestants’ workout loads! But Michaels is now learning the challenges of a different road — the one to adoption.

Last year, Michaels announced her intention to adopt a child. This week, she shared her plans to adopt from Congo. Now, however, begins the waiting game. “… it could be two years,” she told US Weekly, “Or, it could be tomorrow!”

Michaels will have plenty to keep her busy in the meantime. Although she’s leaving The Biggest Loser, Michaels has recently announced that she’ll be one of the co-hosts for The Doctors.

Celebrity trainer Jillian Michaels is used to cries and tears on the set of TV shows The Biggest Loser and Losing It With Jillian. But she’s getting ready to hear a different kind of crying! The fitness coach recently announced via Twitter that season 11 of The Biggest Loser will be her last so she can focus on being a mommy! As The Biggest Loser is still in season 10, Michaels will have plenty of time to prepare for her child’s arrival.

Michaels has been upfront with her fertility issues since her interview with Women’s Health magazine ignited a firestorm earlier this year. In that article, Michaels said she planned to adopt because, “I can’t handle doing that (in reference to getting pregnant) to my body.” Michaels later said she was misquoted and explained that she suffers from endometriosis and polycystic ovary syndrome.
