Jim Bob Duggar announced the sad news that he and wife Michelle have miscarried their baby. The couple were expecting their 20th child. According to People, the Duggars had gone to a routine appointment to learn whether they were having another son or daughter when the loss was discovered. Jim Bob made the following announcement on the 19 kids and Counting website, “Michelle is resting comfortably at home with the support of the entire family. We are grateful for all the thoughts and prayers, but ask for privacy during this difficult time.”
At this rate, TLC will need to update the name of their show every year or so! Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar, stars of TLC’s 19 Kids and Counting, recently announced that they’re expecting their 20th baby! The couple, whose youngest — Josie — was born roughly three months premature after Michelle struggled with preeclampsia, is weathering some criticism on the heels of the announcement. In announcing the news, however, the couple wrote, “Our whole family is so excited that God has blessed us with another child.” The newest member of the Duggar family is expected to arrive in April 2012.
The Duggar clan is one member larger! 19 Kids and Counting stars Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar welcomed their second grandchild earlier this month. Their eldest, 23-year-old Josh, and his wife Anna welcomed their second baby on June 15th. Baby boy — whose name is scheduled to be announced on tonight’s show — weighed 8 pounds, 5 ounces and joins big sis, 20-month-old Mackynzie, and the only grandbabies in the Duggar clan.
After getting a very early start in life — her gestational age was only 25 weeks (a baby’s considered full-term at 37 weeks) at her arrival — little Josie Duggar is finally home! Not that she’s all that little anymore, as her 9 pounds and 1 ounce have given her a cute baby double chin. Josie is the 19th child for 19 Kids & Counting stars Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar. She spent the last six months in the neonatal intensive care unit in Little Rock, Arkansas, after her December 10th arrival. She was officially released on June 3rd, but 12 cases of chicken pox kept her away from home until June 25th.
She may be a tiny thing — she weighed only 1 pound, 6 ounces at birth — but Josie Brooklyn Duggar is already the star of the show. The newest Duggar arrived December 10th, more than three months earlier than her scheduled due date. Her short life has already been eventful: when she was only eight days old, she was moved to Arkansas Children’s Hospital’s intensive care unit after she perforated her bowel. As that facility doesn’t allow children younger than 18 years in the ICU, most of the other 18 Duggar children have been checking in via video taken on dad Jim Bob Duggar‘s phone.
Despite positive assurances last week, Michelle Duggar delivered her 19th baby on Thursday, December 10th. Daughter Josie Brooklyn, who wasn’t supposed to arrive until March 18th, is doing well: PEOPLE reported that the smallest Duggar (she weighed only 1 pound, 6 ounces at her birth) is in stable condition in the hospital’s neonatal intensive care unit.
Duggar was admitted to the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences for what turned out to be gallbladder pain earlier this month, and doctors soon discovered that she was suffering from preeclampsia. The condition, which affects 5-8 percent of all pregnancies, is characterized by rising blood pressure. Though rare, severe cases can result in death for both mother and child. Doctors determined that Duggar’s case warranted an emergency C-section to protect the health of both Duggar and her baby.
Our thoughts are with little Josie and the entire Duggar family.
The Duggar family, who star in the TLC show 18 Kids and Counting, just keeps getting bigger! The family recently announced that mom Michelle, 42, is pregnant with baby #19.
Yes, you read that right, 19!
Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, who make their home in Tonitown, Arkansas, were anticipating the arrival of their first grandchild. But surprises were in store, as the couple learned that granddaughter, Mackynzie, who’s expected to arrive October 18, will have an aunt or uncle arrive about five months after her, on March 18, 2010!
“I’m just thankful,” Michelle wrote on her TLC blog. “I don’t take this experience for granted, ever. I cherish that I have the time and ability to play with my children and be active for them.”
The family has already created a list of boys and girls names that start with the letter J to make sure the newest addition fits in with the rest of the family:
Jordyn-Grace, 8 months
What “J” name would you recommend for Duggar baby #19?
