This Week’s Baby Beat: February 14th-20th

Did you catch all the baby news this week? Check out our weekly wrap-up to make sure you’re up-to-date on who’s expecting, welcoming and naming!

• Despite the rumors swirling to the contrary, Angelina Jolie cleared up her intentions to CNN during a recent visit to earthquake-stricken Haiti. Adopting a Haitian child was not in the plans, although she and Brad are “always open to children.”

• NASCAR drivers have racing to the delivery room these days, and Elliott Sadler is the latest to join the fray. He and wife Amanda welcomed Wyatt Herman Fritts Sadler on February 15th, a few weeks before his scheduled due date.

Albert Pujols, who’s the first baseman for the St. Louis Cardinals, and his wife Deidre evened up their brood this month with the arrival of Ezra on the 5th. The Pujols are also parents to Isabella, Alberto Jr. and Sophia.

• French ice dancer Isabelle Delobel is tackling quite a few challenges these days. In addition to competing in this month’s Winter Olympics (she and partner Olivier Schoenfelder were in 6th place after the Compulsory Dance and have yet to take the ice tonight), she’s also adapting to being a new mom! Delobel and her husband, Ludovic Roux, welcomed Loic on October 1st. Delobel was back on the ice training in earnest on October 26th.

Fellow NASCAR driver Carl Edwards is still awaiting the arrival of his first born, but for Elliott Sadler, the wait is over! Sadler and his wife, Amanda, welcomed their first child on Monday, February 15th, a bit ahead of his early-March schedule. Wyatt Herman Fritts Sadler apparently has a need for speed, though! Sadler announced the newest arrival via both his Web site and Twitter feed, saying, “Amanda and baby are doing great!”
