Juliet and Emma, Atticus and Jacob; it is no secret that many parents are inspired by popular literary works when seeking a name for a child. But on a recent taping of Jimmy Kimmel Live, Cate Blanchett told the host that her third child’s name came from a more unusual book – Captain Underpants!
The Australian actress relayed how she was “eight months pregnant and hallucinating” while reading the book and came across the perfect name for her now six-year-old son. “[In the book] they have this interior code and they give these examples of names. You go down to ‘I’ and the example is Ignatius. It was like the Virgin Mary going ‘Boom!'”
Ignatius has three other siblings with unique names: Dashiell (13), Roman (11), and Edith, a baby that the actress and her husband, Andrew Upton, adopted in February of 2015.
