He’s been giving advice to others since his debut on Oprah’s show in the late 90s, but Dr. Phil McGraw has the perfect plan in mind for dealing with his first grandbaby. “I plan to be the typical doting grandfather that gets to do all the fun stuff and none of the tough stuff,” McGraw told PEOPLE recently.
The newest McGraw is the first child for Jay and his wife, Erica, who announced their big news during a recent family trip to Europe.
Expectant mama and Top Chef host Padma Lakshmi has been candid about her pregnancy since sharing the good news earlier this month. First, she spoke about her struggles with endometriosis, and now she’s talking openly about her itchy baby bump!
At a New York City brunch to champion Reebok’s line of Pink Ribbon products, Lakshmi says she has a daily “buttering ceremony” to soothe her burgeoning belly. She plans to keep butter on her plate as well, saying “I am as omnivorous as it’s possible to be. I always say there’s nothing I won’t eat and nothing I won’t wear.”
While eager to share about her progressing pregnancy, Lakshmi’s keeping mum on the father’s identity as well as the baby’s gender. Guess we’ll find out at least one of those answers when she delivers in late March/early April.

Sorry ladies–Mr. Big is officially off the market! Entertainment Tonight Canada got Sex in the City hunk Chris Noth to spill the beans that he longtime girlfriend, actress Tara Wilson, are tying the knot. Noth shared the big news during an interview at a teahouse he owns in London, Ontario. The couple, who met when Wilson worked at Noth’s Manhattan bar, the Cutting Room, are parents to son Orion Christopher, who will turn two in January.
Christina Milian has put the rumors to rest and confirmed her pregnancy! The singer told PEOPLE last night that she’s expecting her first child with her new husband, The Dream, and is about 19 weeks along.
While the couple know the baby’s gender, they’re keeping it a secret. Guess we’ll find out in late February/early March!
But which Hudson?
Although Kate Hudson has been rumored to want Alex Rodriguez‘s baby (see our earlier post), it’s her brother Oliver Hudson who’s adding a baby to the family!
The 36-year-old star of Rules of Engagement and his wife, Erinn Barlett, are expecting their second child. Wilder Brooks, the couple’s first child, recently turned two.
The Top Chef host is cooking up something a little more exciting than TV drama! Her rep recently confirmed that the 39-year-old actress is expecting her fist child.
Lakshmi suffered from endometriosis, a medical condition in which the uterus lining grows outside uterus and can lead to infertility. She has had surgery to treat her condition, but Lakshmi’s rep said her doctor is calling this pregnancy a medical miracle.
No word on a due date or who the baby’s father might be.
Funny man Will Ferrell has another reason to be happy. PEOPLE recently announced that the comedian and his wife, Viveca Paulin, are expecting their third child, a boy, sometime in January. The couple already has two sons: Magnus, 5, and Mattias, 2.
Ferrell has had a busy year. In addition to starring in this past summer’s Land of the Lost, he produced The Goods: Live Hard, Sell Hard, which opened in August, and his Broadway show, “You’re Welcome, America. A Final Night With George W. Bush” was nominated for a Tony award.
Jon Cryer and Lisa Joyner
It may be all about the boys on the set of Two and a Half Men, but recent Emmy winner Jon Cryer is enjoying the softer side of life at home. He and wife Lisa Joyner recently adopted a baby girl, Daisy, who was born August 11th.
Cryer set rumor mills churning by referencing his “baby girl” during his recent acceptance speech for Best Supporting Actor, and his publicist later confirmed the couple’s adoption plans.
Cryer has a son, Charlie Austin, from a previous marriage to Sarah Trigger.
Rebecca Gayheart and Eric Dane
Grey’s Anatomy star Eric Dane has made no secret of his desire to be a father–and it looks like his wish has come true. He and wife, Rebecca Gayheart, were spotted strolling down the streets of Los Angeles this past weekend, and she was very obviously sporting a baby bump. While the couple has yet to confirm the good news, friends of the pair say they are most definitely expecting.
Julie Chen received an early show of her own this week. The Big Brother and Early Show host and her husband, CBS CEO Les Moonves, welcomed son Charlie at 9:40 a.m. on Thursday, September 24th in Los Angeles.
Though little Charlie wasn’t due until October 4, a rep for the couple said that “mother and child are doing well.”
Moonves has three children–Adam, Michael and Sarah–from a previous marriage.
