American Idol winner Kelly Clarkson and her husband Brandon Blackstock have welcomed their second child, a son named Remington Alexander Blackstock.

According to Babynames.com, the name Remington is of British origin and means, “From the Ridge Town.”  Remington Steele was the name of a popular 1980s television show starring a young Pierce Brosnan as the title character.  The name is currently ranked #313 in U.S. births.

Kelly shared the news herself via Twitter, writing: “Our little baby boy has arrived!! Remington Alexander Blackstock was born 4/12/16 & he is healthy & we couldn’t be happier or more in love!”  When her friend, comedian and talk show host Ellen DeGeneres, tweeted back that she would call the newborn by the nickname “Remy,” Clarkson replied, “We’re calling him Remy as well! :)”

Clarkson and Blackstock are already parents to a daughter, River Rose, and she is a step-mom to his two older children, Savannah and Seth, from a previous marriage.  The singer praised her husband’s devotion to their children in the moving song “Piece by Piece” which she performed with great emotion on the last season of American Idol.  Kelly has said that the song reflects on her own father’s absence from her life and how the support from her husband taught her to love and trust again.

The “Since You’ve Been Gone” singer was very open with the challenges she has faced while pregnant; including hospitalization due to extreme morning sickness.  When asked by Ryan Seacrest if she wanted more children after Remington, she responded, “Oh, no, we are done…I can’t be pregnant again. This will be our number four total, so we’re good.”
