Cole Hamels
The day’s game might have been a loss, but October 8th was a big day for Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Cole Hamels. While Hamels was on the pitcher’s mound, his wife, Heidi Strobel, went into labor! The Phillies ended up losing that game 5-4, but Hamels sill came home a winner: Caleb Michael was born the next day. Hamels and his wife had previously announced their plans to adopt a girl from Ethiopia next year. According to the PHILADELPHIA INQUIRER, those plans are still in place. “We’re going to adopt a girl, and it will be great for her to grow up with a brother. They’ll be like twins,” the site quoted Hamels as saying.
